Cars we love: the Lexus RC

BY EMPRESARIOS

A car with heart-stopping good looks, the completely new Lexus RC coupe is a potent symbol of the changes at the core of the automotive company. Indeed, the transformation begun by the company several years ago has shifted into high gear with the new RC, along with the NX and the most recent IS.

With its audacious design, the RC instantly grabs your attention. However, it is the powerful roar from that comes from its engine once you turn it on that closes the sale. Available in either as a 3.5 liter V6 with 306 horsepower (RC 350) or a 5.0 liter V8 with 467 horsepower (RC F), the RC provides a memorable driving experience.

Lexus engineers have given the RC an automatic 8-shift transmission, and rear wheel drive.  Its double wishbone suspension in the front and multilink in the back give the RC a dynamic character and agile response in different road types. The RC is a car for sport car enthusiasts.

The RC F has 19” wheels (compared to the RC350’s 18”) and can reach 60 miles per hour in just 4.4 seconds. When driving at high speeds the car tightly hugs the road, taking even sharp turns and curves with no skidding.

The interior surfaces are mostly covered with soft fine leather. The instrument panel takes inspiration from the Lexus LFA, the brand’s super car which ended its production run in 2012. The RC's “infotainment” system has a screen-based interface through which the driver can access most controls and set preferences.

We wholeheartedly recommend the RC F for those who want a fast, powerful car but with a distinctive and luxurious design. The RC F starts at $99,995, while the RC 350 is priced at $57,995.
